The hoods have raised traction patterns to ensure solid grip, with or without gloves. The brake pivot is higher than most road levers, which gives you more stopping leverage with mechanical disc brakes. The shifter is compatible with Sword Black, Sword, Advent X, and Advent rear derailleurs. Set with right shift/brake lever and left shift/brake lever for mechanical 2x9-speed drivetrains.
