With the introduction of the Super Record 13 series, Campagnolo has revised its bottom bracket concept from the ground up. The result goes by the name of QCK-Tech ("Quick Tech") and is designed to enable faster, more intuitive and more precise installation. The advanced system features a patented outer seal that effectively protects the ball bearings from external influences such as moisture, mud and sand. Also the inner part made of glass fiber reinforced polyamide ensures perfect waterproofness and prevents any internal contamination. In this way, constant long-term performance can be guaranteed even under extreme conditions. The shells house oversize bearings made of stainless steel, which are mounted directly onto the Ultra Torque half-shafts and firmly integrated into the crank arms. This results in superior structural stiffness and direct, responsive power transmission, reflecting the high-performance DNA of the Super Record groupset. A single oversize bolt ensures a firm connection, which also facilitates assembly. A larger diameter and the bearings located outside the bottom bracket shell, which allow for an increased support width, also make the entire construction stiffer. The Hirth spur gearing, which originates from engine construction, also benefits torsional rigidity and gives the Ultra Torque™ crankshaft self-aligning properties.
